For those of you who have started to pop the question, and hopefully she said yes… Congratulations!! You’re getting married!! Obviously planning a wedding is a massive, daunting, and time-consuming task, but don’t worry too much, you’ll have your partner to help you through it (and in some cases she’ll want to plan the whole thing). Through the months of preparation, seeing different venues, looking at thousands of flowers, allocating the budget, picking the cake, and planning the painful seating arrangements, you and your partner will go through Hell and back and ultimately strengthen an unshakeable bond.
But… we’re no wedding experts and obviously can’t plan it out for you, so we thought we’d compile a check list for you, the groom, for the approaching months leading to the big day.
3 MONTHS Before the Wedding: Selecting the outfits
Figure out what you and your groomsmen are going to wear. Whether it be a tux or a classic suit, you’re going to want to be looking like a million bucks, and hey, it’s your wedding day! You deserve to look as good as you feel. You’re obviously going to be coordinating with the bride and make sure you and your groomsmen either match or coordinate with the respective wedding party. This is where you can have fun with your ties, pocket squares, socks, tie bars, cufflinks, lapel pins, etc. Make sure you run everything with your partner and she approves before buying anything. Remember, a happy wife = a happy life 😉

1 MONTH Before Wedding: Fitting
In the months prior to the big day, you’re most likely going to be working out so you’re in tip top shape. This is the adult equivalent of college students doing Insanity workouts 2 weeks before going on Spring Break. When you purchased your suit/tux you would have to factor in where you would ideally and realistically be in terms of size down the road. Get your suit altered and tailored 1 month ahead, this way you’ll be closer to your actual weight, and just in case the garments come back slightly off, there will still be a safe amount of time to make any corrections.
1 WEEK Before Wedding: Grooming
It’s getting closer! It’s time to get pretty! Now’s the time to get that perfect haircut. A good haircut can make any suit look even better (you’d be surprised). You may not be thrilled about it, but you should also get a manicure and a pedicure. If not it’s not your usual thing… you may just want to suck it up and do it for your wife 🙂 (she’ll really appreciate it).
1 DAY Before the Wedding: Make a list, check it twice
This is where you need to make a checklist for everything! You have to make sure you don’t forget anything whether it’s your suit, shirt, shoes, socks, tie, bowtie, pocket square, cufflinks, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
DAY OF the Wedding: It’s time!
Shower and get dressed, make sure you have everything, for God’s sake make sure you (or the ring bearers) have the rings, don’t forget to breathe, and enjoy the happiest moment of your life.
